Established in 1959, Anhui University of Finance and Economics (AUFE) is now a comprehensive university of finance and economics, which gives priority to Economics, Management and Law and incorporates eight areas including science, engineering, historiography and liberal arts. AUFE has been among the first patch of universities awarded the right to grant bachelor’s degrees and the third patch awarded the right to grant master’s degrees. It is the key construction university in Anhui Province and supported by both the provincial government and All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives.
AUFE has covered an area of 944,152 square meters and its two campuses are located along both the east and west bank of beautiful Dragon Lake, Bengbu City. With 12 schools, 1 teaching department, 3 provincial-level and 35 university-level research institutes, AUFE has been among the first batch of universities that enroll undergraduates since 2010 and boasts a total enrolment of 21,016 full-time undergraduates in 54 bachelors’ degree programs and 2 dual degree programs, and 2,385 postgraduates in 9 first-degree and 36 second-degree disciplines as well as 14 professional master’s degree programs.
AUFE currently has a faculty of 1,113 well-formed, high-quality and creative full-time teachers and researchers, of whom 535 are professors and 83.37% have received their master’s degrees or PhDs. In recent years AUFE places more emphasis on attracting academic talents, consolidating academic groups and building innovative groups. More and more academic leaders, nationally well-renowned scholars and recently-emerging young scholars come and join AUFE.
AUFE attaches great importance to scientific research and social work. Since 2008, its faculty members have undertaken 59 projects from both the national social science foundation and national science foundation in China, 104 provincial or ministerial projects and published 292 papers on Economic Research, Management World and many other key SSCI journals, and won 42 provincial prizes for outstanding scientific researches. AUFE has also established several research centers, such as Hefei-Wuhu-Bengbu Independent Innovation and Regional Economic Development Research Center, North Anhui Development Research Institute and Hefei Research Institute. It has compiled and published three very popular reports for more than five years, including Anhui Economic Development Report, Anhui Industrial Competitiveness Report, and Anhui County-Level Economic Development Report. It has signed strategic cooperation agreements with 10 provincial supply and marketing cooperatives, participated in the development planning of more than 20 cities, counties or districts, received more than 7.8-million-yuan research funds and constantly improved the training system. AUFE-funded periodical, Finance and Trade is a CSSCI-indexed periodical.
AUFE places great emphasis on inter-university and international exchange and cooperation and has forged partnerships with a number of universities and research institutes worldwide. Through participating in these activities, teachers and students have broadened their vision to a national or international level. It has constantly invited experts and scholars from home and abroad to give lectures. At the same time, many teachers have been sent to countries such as Japan, U.S.A, Italy, Germany, France, Britain, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Romania and regions such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao, either as visiting scholars or students to pursue further study there. AUFE also carries out both the bachelor’s and master’s degree program for international students and offers 2+2, 3+1 and 3+2 joint cultivation programs in collaboration with world-renowned universities.
